MICATA Installation Luncheon Saturday, September 29, 2007
Join us for an opportunity to socialize over fine fare as we welcome the newly-elected board of directors, commemorate St. Jerome's Day and learn from a distinguished colleague!
We are honored to have Dr. Etilvia Maria Arjona Tseng from Panama as our guest speaker.
Dr. Arjona has been a member of MICATA almost since its inception. In 2005, the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs (FIT) awarded her the coveted Pierre François Caillé medal in recognition of her life-long dedication to the training and education of translators and interpreters around the world and her merits in enhancing the status of the profession in the Americas.
Dr. Arjona was the first chairperson of the Monterey Institute in Monterey CA, was a director of the American Translators Association for several years, on the US President's commission that developed the court interpreter guidelines and established and consulted on the establishment of university T&I training programs in the US and several other countries. Dr. Arjona presently lives in Panama City and continues her T&I consulting and teaching career.
